a first look into my sabBATical work..

Here's a look at a small portion of a multi-plate intaglio print project I've been working on.

This is a close-up view of the actual zinc plate, which has been deeply etched, scraped, burnished, power-sanded and polished.  This Bruce got about 4 hours of engraving done to him.  For a sense of the scale at which I'm working, you could cover his head with a nickel.

This is just the beginning... the final print (if I ever finish) may be my most ambitious and grueling undertaking yet.  It will contain many surprises, including references to Ars Moriendi, Durer, Cougars, flying contraptions and more beasts.
